Dear Sogetsu NY Branch Members,

Demonstrating. Most of us are afraid of it or have never thought about it. Has some local group asked you about ikebana? Your child’s teacher? Would you like to spread the love of flowers? You too could do a demonstration. You just need to try. And if you have demonstrated before, this is a chance to get even better at it.

In this workshop, we will practice in small groups. You must bring your flowers and a container, and a plan for the arrangement. Keep it simple- think the first lesson- which is where most demonstrations start.

We will be in groups of 3 or 4. You will demonstrate, and get feedback from your group members. Riji Judy Hata will also be in attendance for consultations.

Come and try it. We’ll have fun.

Exhibits in Oct.2011

1. From Shoko Iwata:

The Larchmont Sogetsu Group will exhibit at the YWCA of White Plains & Central Westchester from Monday Oct 24th from noon and through Oct 26 until 3 pm.

We will have about 14 arrangements in the fall seasonal style.

2. From Judy Hata:

The Wasetsu Group Exhibit will be at the Nippon Club on Oct. 27-29.

The reception is Oct. 27 from 6-8, and the exhibit is Oct. 28 from 10-6 pm. On the 29th, the exhibit is from 10- 4 pm.

The Nippon club is on 145 W. 57th St, NYC.

While Mrs. Kanzaki is taking leave of absence, Mr. Kawana, HQ instructor, agreed to have workshops at her Saturday classes.

These workshops took place: February 12, February 26 and March 12 at Nippon Club, 145 West 57^th Street, New York, NY 10019, from 1:30 to 4 pm

The cost for each class was $30, plus a $40.00 special material fee. Space was limited.

2011 New Year Luncheon

Sogetsu New York Branch celebrated the 2011 New Year on January 12th at the Nippon Club as usual. We had an opera singer performance for the first time.
